4C Coalition, a non-profit in Seattle is seeking a Part-time Group Mentoring Program Facilitator
The 4C Coalition is a non-profit mentor organization that recruits, trains, and supports people from the community who volunteer to mentor youth involved in the juvenile justice system or at risk of entering the system. The 4C mentor acts as a role model and provides support for youth in SYVPI. The youth we serve reside or attend school in the Southeast, Southwest, or the Central Seattle community.
Reports to Program Manager
Description-Group Mentoring: Facilitators in one of two ways: a) Supportive b) utilizing a qualified and approved Facilitators Guide will plan and facilitate group mentoring meetings for mentee development. Facilitators will implement the group mentoring with designated curriculum. Should be extremely organized and detail-oriented.
Skills: Facilitators are strong listeners and presenters, with the ability to elicit feedback and provide salient evaluation. Mental health, social work, community organizing or counseling background is mandatory.
The Mentor Program Facilitator will assist the 4C Coalition Mentor Program in carrying out the mission of the 4C Coalition Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative (SYVPI) Group Mentoring Program: To identify and help vulnerable children and youth break the cycle of violence.
This is position supports group mentoring services to youth. Areas of responsibility include monitoring youth during sessions referred to group mentoring. Sending out email, text to youth weekly. Communication with parents, of youth. This position will provide facilitation and or /co- facilitation, and mentoring services to youth in the designated geographical area of SYVPI. The position also is responsible for maintaining relationship with group mentors and community relations with partner agencies.
Facilitator’s position will implement the group mentoring curriculum.
Assure lesson plan is prepared and reviewed in advance and forwarded to group mentors. Practice or review lesson plan with co- facilitator and group mentors weekly.
Day of group assures sign in sheets, and all handout materials for the group are available to mentees and mentors.
Should be extremely organized and detail-oriented. The ability to work in fast-paced environments is a must. Should be able to effectively communicate with personnel on all levels. The position may require interaction with internal and external supporters.
The ability to work under deadlines and to prioritize tasks is desired skill-set for group mentoring. Candidates should have a working knowledge of computers and software applications
The core responsibilities of the Group Mentor Facilitators involve active participation in the development of the Weekly Curriculum. The areas of responsibility follow:
- Assist with planning, implementation, and evaluate group mentor curriculum.
Ensure mentees sign in to group.
- Collect sign in sheets after group and place in file.
- Facilitate or Co-facilitate the groups in one of the areas of the SYVPI Central, SE and SW.
- Assist with breaking down the room.
- Supervise group mentees.
In accordance with aims of the 4C Mentor Program:
- Collaborate and establish regular communication with the 4C staff.
- Attend meeting or conference calls as requested by 4C staff.
- Collect and analyze current and accurate documentation pertaining to the mentee.
- Participate in meetings for continuous program development and other meetings as required. .
- Problem solves issues that present as barriers to successful mentee/mentor relationships.
- Maintain success stories of group mentor and mentees.

The position will require interaction with executive-level internal and external supporters. The ability to work under deadlines and to prioritize tasks is desired skill-sets for group mentoring. Candidates should have a working knowledge of computers and software applications
This position requires independent initiative to action. All planning and decisions are subject to supervisory review. Other requirements include:
- Must have reliable transportation.
Compensation: Depends on experience. Salary is competitive within local nonprofit community.
